Lynn's Story
I’m Lynn McCann and I’m the specialist teacher who loves to support anyone to understand their autistic, ADHD and PDA students
Reachout ASC is a team of specialist teachers with many year’s experience and expertise. We work with children of all ages, making school better for them.
- We understand what teachers are going through because we have all been there, in the classroom, and understand all the pressures and targets that are put upon you.
- We know you are not given enough training to support all the student’s needs in your class.
- We understand parents because we are parents of autistic children and children with other additional needs.
- We understand our students because some of us are autistic and some of us have ADHD.
- We understand what our students are going through because we make our first priority to listen to them, giving them the communication tools they need to be able to tell us what school and being autistic is like for them.

I found this course to be very informative, with lots of useful, common sense, practical approaches/ideas in supporting SEND/ASD students through some of the biggest changes in their lives, especially when we find ourselves in unprecedented circumstances. This year has been a challenging times for both students & staff and it's the support of each other has helped us all to get through it. Well done !

I found the information very helpful from a Pre-School SENDCo point of view, transition to secondary school helpful for a friend but not from my work perspective. I would have been happy to finish the course at transition to primary school which is why it took me so long to finish the course. You have added very useful downloads and web links/addresses, thank you.

Excellent course. Givent the heightened anxiety many pupils will be feeling after the long lock-down period, it is understandable that our SEND and ASC pupils may need transition back to school (even if it isn't a 'big' transition. Very useful resources as well. Thank you!

The big transition for Autistic and SEND pupils after lockdown
I thought this training was fantastic. It will help me in my work but it will help me even more in my personal life as my son is autistic and has just found out today that he has a place at collage in September. We have some of these things already to help him but doing this training today has given me lots of useful information that will help me and my son.
Samantha
Big Help
As a teacher in a primary special school, the course, though aimed at parents and a lot of content for high school and college, gives ideas on supporting pupils transition between classes and schools. This has given me a few ideas on support I can offer to parents and what they can do as we begin to return to school shortly and preparing pupils once back in school for their transitions between key stages and into high school.
Allison
Good title
Good course looking at the bigger transitions from all sides, practitioner, student, parent. As the course says they are just 'transitions' but rites of passage. That stuck me as a key consideration.
stephanie
massively helpful
Thanks for all the clear guidance around a very uncertain transition. The practical tips and downloads have been invaluable when preparing for the possible changes in September.

Preparing Autistic and Send children for going back to school- Big Transitions
Some good content in manageable chunks . There was , however, too much repetition of the previous course and, at times, distinctions blurred in terms of who the course was aimed at .
